Frequently asked questions

Common questions about accepting crypto with PrivCart. Still stuck? Read the Merchant Guide or reach a human.

What is PrivCart?
A self-hosted, privacy-first cryptocurrency point-of-sale and payment gateway. Your customers pay in crypto and the funds settle to wallets you control — no third party sits between you and your money.
Which cryptocurrencies can I accept?
Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Monero (XMR) — plus ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum: USDC, USDT, DAI, USDS, WBTC, XAUT, and ZCHF.
How does a payment work?
You create an invoice for an asset and amount and get a hosted checkout link. Your customer pays the exact amount to a unique, single-use address shown with a QR code. PrivCart watches the blockchain, and once the payment reaches the required number of confirmations the invoice settles and the funds sweep to your treasury.
Where are my funds — is this custodial?
Every invoice uses its own freshly derived receive address; addresses are never reused. Settled funds accumulate in your treasury, and you withdraw to an external address that you control. You are always paid out to an address you own.
How private is it? Do you track my customers?
The checkout and these pages make zero third-party requests — no trackers, no analytics, no external fonts or scripts. Each invoice gets a fresh address so payments aren't trivially linkable, and Monero is supported for on-chain privacy. There's no KYC and no personal data required from your customers to pay.
How long do payments take to confirm?
It depends on the network. Each asset waits for a set number of confirmations before it settles — Solana is nearly instant, while Bitcoin waits for multiple blocks and can take a while when the network is busy. Some wallets let you raise the network fee to speed a slow payment up. A payment that hasn't confirmed yet is normal; give it time.
What does it cost?
PrivCart charges a small percentage fee per settled invoice, set per merchant in basis points (e.g. 0.5%–1%). Blockchain network/miner fees are separate and paid on-chain by whoever sends the transaction.
How do I add it to my website or WooCommerce store?
Create invoices from your server using your API key and send customers to the hosted checkout, or embed the checkout directly in your site with an iframe (the origins allowed to embed are configurable). Step-by-step details are in the Merchant Guide.
Is my API key sensitive?
Yes — treat it like a password. It's a bearer credential that can create invoices and move funds. It's shown only once when you mint it; store it in a secret manager and rotate it immediately if you suspect it has leaked. The old key stops working the moment you mint a new one.
A customer paid late, or sent the wrong amount — what now?
Every invoice has an expiry window and an exact expected amount. If a payment arrives late or for a different amount, the invoice may not settle on its own — reach out to support and we'll help you sort it out.
